As one of the Ebsford founders, Nick has responsibility for all areas of the business. Nick continues to be a “hands on” director and works on a number of our higher profile aquatic restoration schemes and frameworks; particularly those that are externally funded and have a real driver towards engagement and socio economic benefits. It is Nick who drives the Ebsford ethos of client relationship management and dedication to our workforce and he can often be found in a site cabin chatting to our ops teams in a remote part of the U.K; away from the office where he ends up having to “sign things”

Finance Director
Richard is a Chartered Accountant and founding director of the business. As well as developing Ebsfords bespoke management system, he has responsibility for all things Finance & IT and leads a small team providing financial and systems support to the group.

Being able to demonstrate flexibility and respond to changing situations and customers requirements quickly and effectively is something Adam has always enjoyed. This will always be a core theme of our work as we operate in and with nature where there are no straight lines, conditions can change by the minute and there are many sensitive elements that need to be shown due care and protection. Since the early days, what we can do for customers and how we can do it has come on exponentially. Over the years Adam has drawn on and applied environmental, technical, commercial and management skills to this end. As Managing Director of the Aquatics contracting business, Adam is focused on continuing this work with our team of talented and committed staff, who share the same Ebsford core values that have driven the business to where we are today.

Nick has overall responsibility for the effective running of the aquatics operational department, Nick oversees the development of a highly competent workforce, ensuring each member is equipped with the skills required to manage increasingly complex projects with safety and environmental considerations held as prime objectives alongside delivering client value. Nick has been key in the success and growth of Ebsford’s aquatics team. Starting from managing an initial two operational staff to developing a twenty strong team working on a string of large projects across the UK.

Mark is a founder of the business and is responsible for the Invasive Business Unit. Mark also has overall responsibility for the research and development department which concentrates on finding new and innovative solutions to the management of invasive vegetation. Mark specialises in the identification, taxonomy and eradication of terrestrial and aquatic invasive vegetation. Holding the WAMITAB CoTC in Contaminated Land for Remediation and Mobile Treatment, Mark has recently developed the Ebsford Enviroscreen 20-20, a revolutionary mobile screening unit designed for the management and processing of Japanese knotweed.

Gill has seen the growth of Ebsford first hand from our very early days and is perfectly placed to understand and develop each new staff member. Heading up our Human Resources, Gill shares a responsibility for promoting the Ebsford ethos and ensuring our team is highly skilled and highly motivated. Gill continues to focus on creating a happy and safe environment for our people whilst working with the Ebsford directors to fulfil a further role as Company Secretary.

Ricky heads up the Ebsford SHEQ department and working closely with all Ebsford employees offers advice and support on the companies Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements. Ricky has implemented many new procedures to support the company’s goals and built a department dedicated to improving the way Ebsford works. The maintenance of company accreditations are something Ricky oversees and he operates with a constant focus on continuous improvement alongside keeping our workforce safe.

Matthew originally joined Ebsford as an apprentice in digital marketing, where it became apparent his skills and knowledge of all things IT was invaluable and he naturally developed into the role of IT and Media Assistant. Matthew keeps all of the Ebsford team up and running in terms of IT and phones whilst still using his skills to support the marketing department with video and media and offering support to the invasives commercial team with the online mapping of invasive species.

Ben heads up the Ebsford Invasive operational team and has many years of experience in all eradication methods of schedule 9 species. Now specialising in the management of all Ebsfords mechanical and excavation projects on a national basis, Ben oversees all elements of such projects from contract award to completion alongside managing the excavation operatives team. Ben works closely with our commercial team to offer support and advice when proposing a solution and provides project managers with regular progress updates on live jobs ensuring our clients receive the best experience.

Hannah is a key member of Ebsfords invasive commercial team, with a specialism is schedule 9 non-native invasive species, particularly focusing on the construction and development sector. Hannah is involved through the whole process, from the initial species identification and surveys, the preparation of bespoke solutions, through to making sure that a project is delivered on time and within budget by our operations team. Hannah works with the constant desire to exceed expectations through delivering efficient, sustainable and cost-effective projects and provide the best service in the industry. Hannah completely embodies the Ebsford ethos and is committed to ultimately improving the client experience. Hannah often steps outside of her commercial role to work with the wider team, making improvements to the department.

Alex is an experienced ecologist having worked in the industry for over 20 years. Specialising in surveying and management of invasive non-native plant species listed within UK legislation (e.g. Schedule 9 Part II of the Wildlife & Country Act 1981) Alex is an extremely knowledgeable resource and has worked as a consultant for our clients on projects that have covered a diverse range of habitats, weeds and sectors; including utility companies, developers and local government. All these involve a high level of diligence and professionalism, with finding solutions to problem weeds being critical to the client.

Alex brought to Ebsford his wealth of experience in forestry management and restoration. Alex deals with the technical aspects of managing trees as stand-alone works or as a co-joined approach as part of our larger schemes, always with aesthetics and sustaining the environment in mind. His knowledge and attitude to the ongoing maintenance of the land once our projects are complete, means that Ebsford have been able to introduce a whole new service offering in woodland management, vegetation management and landscape restoration.

Jemma plays a key role in the invasive customer journey, liaising with the operations teams to be able to feed information and updates to clients throughout the life of a project. Jemma provides further support to the operations team with regular purchasing and accommodation booking and also plays a significant role in our INNSA and PCA membership. All of which is done alongside her office management role in which she keeps Ebsford HQ in order for all employees and visitors.

Ben Fisher Head of Projects i

Head of Projects
Ben is focused on the project management of Ebsfords flagship schemes which require a high volume of client and social engagement. In addition to working on key Canal and Rivers Trust dredging projects, he works regularly with regional rivers trusts, local authorities and through our key framework partners, the Environment Agency. Most recently Ben's interests and ultimately specialism has moved into facilitating fish passage via modifications to and full removal of in river barriers such as weirs and culverts. A member of the river restoration centre with vast river restoration experience. He also works regularly with some of the most talented design teams in the country providing build-ability assessments and assistance with funding applications. Through this work and approach, Ben is able to come up with unique methodologies that mitigate against the risks associated with in river working. Other areas of expertise include maximising the use of site won material and sediment re-use, whilst ensuring compliance to both regulations and stakeholder aspirations.

Joey specialises in managing aquatic restoration projects and business development within the northern commercial team. By communicating with key stakeholders, landowners and operational staff, he provides a collaborative approach to delivering projects on time, on budget and to the clients standards for sectors including internal drainage boards, local authorities, national environmental authorities, charities and private clients. Coming from a scientific background, his approach is geared towards finding the ideal balance between environmental and economic benefit, while exceeding service level expectations.

Gemma joined Ebsford as an Apprentice Administration Assistant supporting both the admin and operations functions of the business as a whole. Gemma gained a broader experience of the aquatics department through working closely with the operational team and assisting with various tasks for others including commercial and purchasing. This wider knowledge of the department together with her exceptional organisational ability has led to Gemma developing into a dedicated client support role, still working directly within the Watercourse Business Unit but with the additional focus on aquatic clients and new business.

Helen is responsible for supporting site operations through the sourcing & pricing of external plant & materials from requisitions provided by our site teams. Often reactive and with changing requirements, Helen adapts to the needs of the team to ensure whatever is required on site gets delivered without disruption to a project. From sourcing hired vehicles and welfare facilities to raising purchase orders, Sourcing new suppliers and arranging credit facilities, the role is key in ensuring the Aquatics operations team have whatever they need to carry out their roles

Apprentice Business Administrator
James supports Ebsford's aquatic department's purchasing team alongside his apprenticeship in Business Administration. In addition to fulfilling requisitions from the site teams, James has sole responsibility for the management of company branded clothing and PPE, ensuring all Ebsford employees and agency staff are provided with equipment required to meet our health & safety standards. Through working closely with our operations team, James has also made improvements to equipment databases, with a focus on maintaining testing & inspection records of site equipment and is proving a great help in reducing the extra pressure on site operatives.
