Herbicidal treatment is one of the most common eradication methods on the market. There are a number of factors to be considered when implementing this method of treatment such as the soil type, surrounding vegetation, proximity to watercourses, previous treatment or disturbance of the plant and its maturity. It is worth noting that as of 2014 the majority of chemicals approved for use on Japanese knotweed will be removed from sale and making it impossible to eradicate the weed in a single season.
